New asthma in adults

I have started getting a tight chest and wheezing when I get colds - is this normal or cold this be asthma type symptoms?

I was always wheezy as a child - particularly in cold weather but haven't really had problems as an adult until the last six months or so.

I don't think that I could comment on your circs Puddle, but I developed asthma just before I turned 30. it appeared out of the blue one summer(I got quite unwell with it). Now I rarely use steroid inhalors (although am at mo with cold wather, colds etc) mostly my blue ventolin.
I often muse as to why it happened after having no symptoms at all prior to diagnosis, but apparently its quite common. I'd think it best to get yourself checked out. I think that most GP surgeries have an asthma nurse.

I never had it as a child, but have had slight asthma as an adult...it started around 40 (mid forties now). Very mild, and not very often, and very linked to allergies (housedust, when the central heating goes on in autumn!). My father got very allergic in his forties, and my sister did too - so I guess there just are late onset asthmas.

I've made an appt at the gps for later today.

ELibean - when you say it's mild - do you take anything for it? What are your symptoms?
