Is this down to the GA I had two weeks ago? How long can I expect to be like this?

Please excuse me, I'm having a moan

I had a GA two and a half weeks ago; since then I've had great difficulty getting off to sleep, then waking up early hours of the morning and not able to drop off again. I guess I'm getting about 4 hours a night on average. I feel ok-ish (ds has not long stopped waking me up lots, and at least I'm getting 4 hours in one go!), but it's not fun. I'm guessing the GA is at the root of it though.

Anyone else have this? How long before you started sleeping normally again?

I've had other problems too re the anaesthetic but they seem to be sorted now.

I had a D&C after a miscarriage. Apparently you're only under anaesthetic for about 10 minutes, but despite that it took me 10 days to get over the effects.

For me, I felt like I was in a bubble, and it was really an effort to talk/engage with anyone. It felt as if I was vaguely drunk.

It's a horrible feeling and I sympathise! It has completely put me off GA, and was one of the reasons DH had a vasectomy rather than me be sterilised!

Rest and take it easy and all will sort itself out.

Thanks starrmum. I was under for about 20mins in total I guess (appendectomy). I really wasn't expecting to feel this bad tbh, scar healing nicely, no problems there, but still seem to be suffering from the GA!

How is your hair ??

And have you developed a little old ladies cough yet ?

Miaou · 05/11/2006 20:31

Are you suggesting I have aged 30 years whilst under????

Hair a bit dry, no cough
(Appetite much reduced tho)

The cough will come, it will be small, insignificant and annoying.
