Painful lump on head.

This afternoon I started with a blinding headache on the right side of my head. On investigation I found a small lump at the base of my skull,at the back of my head on the right side. All the pain is coming from there. It's very painful to touch. I feel really rubbish.

Has anyone had one of these, or know what it is?

I take it you haven't bumped it?
It sounds a bit worrying to me, I would ring the out of hours Dr or 101 or whatever it calls itself these days.

I get swollen glands there. Very tender.

I didn't know there were glands there. Did you need antibiotics?

They flare up when I'm ill - has happened with tonsillitis, sinusitis, colds, flu. Ibuprofen really helps. Have you taken anything?

I take tramadol and naproxen anyway. Does it go by itself eventually?

Yes in a day or two. Cold flannel can help. Hope it gets better soon.
