Horizontal dents on nails

Hello

I have noticed over the last few months (but they could have been there much longer) horizontal dents on my nails, particularly noticeable on my thumbnails.
I am in good health. I have asthma but it is well controlled.
I have been quite stressed recently and also suffer with anxiety at times.

Does anyone have these and know what they are caused by?
I feel a bit silly going to the GP about them.

I had this a few years ago & i went to the doctors but she didnt seem very concerned.The only thing i could think it could be was i had been unwell a few months previous.My nails did look normal a few months later (apart from the usual vertical ridges).

If it would put your mind at rest go see your G.P-they wont think its a waste of time.You know whats normal/not normal with your body.

This happened to me several months after a bout of illness - I'd been hospitalised with pneumonia and was pretty unwell. In my case, once the ridges had grown out, they didn't recur.
