Hi,

I am after a little advice please.

I had unprotected sex on the 21st March. This date was also possibly when i was ovulating. I Took the morning after pill the following day within 16 hours, then had a period 2 weeks later, around the 5th April. Normally my period starts for 2 days then stops then re-appears for another 2 days. This time however i only has a very light period for the first 2 days.

On saturday last week, i had a very mild cramping in my stomach followed by sickness. The sickness has continued up until now. I still feel sick. I also feel tired, extremely emotional and seem to be peeing more often.

I have taken 2 of the Asda own brand tests, both have come back negative.

Now i am totally confused. Could these symptons be the after affects of taking the map 4 week ago.

Period not due until 3rd May. Today i have had a warm sensation in my stomach, almost like when period is due.

Im still bf and usually around ovulation, it is extremely painful to bf and i have had not of that this month?

I am currently going out of my mind.

Can anyone help.

If you conceived around 21 March then you'd be about 6 weeks pregnant by now, so any pregnancy tests would almost certainly come up positive. I'd say it's therefore pretty safe to assume that you're not pregnant.

The fact you're still bf and took the morning after pill could have just messed up your hormones a bit, which might explain why you feel a bit funny, or it could be completely unrelated. But I wouldnt worry too much.

Hi Metalhead.
Thank you for replying. You mentioned I would be 6 weeks. I don't understand that calculation. Would it not be from date of unprotected sex. If so, then my symptoms started 3 week after intercourse.
The whole scenario is frustrating me. I need my period to arrive.

Pregnancy is dated from your last period. Assuming you have a normal-ish cycle of around 28 days you'd be expected to ov around day 14, at which point you'd already technically be 2 weeks "pregnant". It's a bit silly but that's how it's done.

I'm currently 6 weeks 3 days and I ovulated on 20 March, so same time you had sex. I got my first positive test on 30 March, and another test I did last week came up instantly as a very strong positive. I hope that reassures you a bit!

The MAP can really mess up your hormones and cycles. It took me 3 months to get back to normal cycles the last time i took the MAP.
Give it a while longer to settle down.

Thank you ladies. I have been in a state of panic for a few days. I have a 5 and 2 year old. Soon to be 39, so all thoughts have been going through my head.
Mind you these last few hours I have actually warmed to the idea if I was pregnant.
Didn't realise the map could mess with your body this much. Felt bloody awful with pregnancy symptoms all week.
Congratulations by the way Metalhead.
