Fibromyalgia

Talk to me about it!
I am usually crushingly tired, low, awful sleep - even if I have a 'good' night I still feel exhausted. Periods hurt like hell, have aches in my hips, shoulders, neck, usually at night. IBS forever. Dry hair/skin. Muddled head.

I've had thyroid tests and anaemia ones and all clear.

Is it hard to get diagnosed and is there any treatment that helped? I feel like I'm just being a lazy arse Hmm

my gp referred me to rheumatology ,as well as extensive blood tests to rule out lupus.
they ruled out lupus and diagnosed fibromyalgia.
my vitamin d is very low(15),which might be causing some symptoms.
my symptoms are

fatigue - back pain- pelvic pain
very painful joints -the hips and fingers being the worst
even codeine doesnt help.
brain fog- i cant even read as ive forgotton the last paragraph before even started the next.
short term memory loss
i have multiple points of my body that even the slightest touch causes me to yelp - horrible feeling that somethings crawling over my skin
sometimes i cant even stand the feeling of clothes(especially anything on my legs ) so cant get dressed(have to stay in dressing gown)
lack of range in motion in my hips ,so cant bend.
have trouble swallowing
gord/gerd
ibs
migraines
headaches
sensitive to lights/noises/smells
always cold- hair falling out
fevers- night sweats
nausea
weightloss
depression
sensitivity to foods and meds
chest/rib pains
dizziness / breathless even walking up the stairs
pins/needles and numbness /
swollen ankles at the end of the day- very dry skin

the list is endless - another anti body test has come back abnormal so i need a retest in 2 months.
have you had your vitamin d checked?
ive been referred to the pain clinic ,physio and been offered tramadol, amitryptiline and pregabalin.

Oh wow! You poor thing, that sounds horrendous.

I haven't had my vit D checked, I literally only realised this morning that this could be it for me. I do have an ongoing pain in my wrist, x rays ruled out a problem and mri scan due next week. My left leg feels like it's on fire but I assumed it was varicose veins - again considered 'cosmetic' so can't be treated. I'm constantly cold, even in this weather.

Do any of the pills help you?

Gentle exercise, meditation, boundaries, purpose, masturbation. Genuinely. I was diagnosed in 2001, and looking after my body, learning to say "no", understanding what feeds and nurtures me and what I love doing, living my own life and no-one else's, and learning to love myself, my body, my desire - all of these have eased symptoms to the point where they have disappeared.

When they come back, I now understand that's a sign that in some area of my life I am compromising (health, wellbeing, direction, sexuality, sensuality, values) to the point where the only way my body can tell me is by 'shouting' - and so the pain and the fatigue, wooliness, insomnia, cystitis. I've learned for myself it's my body's way of saying, "Quit it, girl! Get back to me. Get back into your life."

wfrances your vitamin D deficiency needs resolving and you also need to get vitamin B12 and folate checked and supplemented if necessary. You are showing classic symptoms of deficiency in all three.

I'd also feel happier if you hold me you had had your thyroid checked and that was all good, including no antibodies. Some if your symptoms are also classic for underactive thyroid.

HellKitty · 18/04/2015 13:47

I'm almost positive that I've had my thyroid checked and it was negative. I'm also displaying classic brain fog, can't remember a thing!

Pleasemrstweedie- i will ask about the vit b12 and folate ,not sure if they tested for it, when i go and pick up prescription for vitamin d.
i am sure i had a thyroid test done because the box was ticked so must be normal.
the immunoglobulins (sp)test and vitamin d are the only ones that were abnormal
and the immunoglobulins one has to be redone in 2 months.

HellKitty - i havnt tried them yet ,this is all very recent
i have to go to the gp now and see what he thinks i should try first,

im already on mirtazipine - recently started for ptsd and depression
so i dont know what i can take along side that.
ive also got a colonoscopy on wednesday as im also bleeding from the bowel-along with the other symptoms including weight loss they are checking everything. -lucky me!

HellKitty · 18/04/2015 17:59

Wfrances, everything crossed for Wednesday. I literally just came on to ask for advice and everyone seems so much more effected than I could possibly imagine. Very un-MN hugs for everyone x

Hi Hellkitty. I'm afraid I have no advice but I am exactly the same. All tests are coming back fine but I feel anything but. Everything is a struggle and I'm fed up of constantly being in pain. Feel like I'm 150 yrs old but only 45 :-(
Hope you feel well soon Flowers
