Do I have to have my bloods done if I may be aneamic?

I have a huge phobia of having my bloods done purely because I normally pass out when I have to have them taken. This isnt helped by the fact that I'm suffering with anxiety and panic attacks which atm which are related to this.

For the last couple of days I've been feeling really breathless and experiencing a heavy feeling on my chest. I've also been getting the odd pains here and there and like a shaky adrenalin rush type feeling.
I think it could be that I'm aneamic as I only had ds 10 weeks ago.
The feeling does pass when I have eaten but then starts to creep back a bit later. I've started taking Spatone again to help.

So will the blood tests be neccessary or can I cheat this and avoid them?

sounds more like anxiety ? rather than anaemia? but it is possible....maybe you can buy post pregnancy supplement that contains iron?

Ahhh lulumama You posted on my other thread didnt you.
I did have this a few weeks back and I would have said then it was anxiety related but it happens at times when I'm not anxious. If that makes sense.

i did makes perfect sense!!!! shall i come with you to the doctors???

do you think....

subconciously ....that because you are worried you are anaemic and therefore will need bloods taking....that you are anxious without realising it consciously????

or am i being silly??????

will it be worse having bloods taken or worse feeling like this?

YellowFeathers · 03/11/2006 16:40

errrr..... good question!

I'm not sure. I think that feeling like this makes me anxious because I'm worried what it is, IYSWIM.

Would they not just prescribe me some iron supplements without checking my hbg levels? Surely there must be one nice Dr that would do that!

i honestly don;t know...go to the chemist and see if they have any iron supplements you can buy over the counter...and the pharmacist should now if your symptoms sound like anaemia....!

i've had both anxiety attacks and anaemia and this sounds more like anxiety attacks.

my anaemia made me HORRIBLY fatigued. i mean, like almost narcoleptic. my limbs felt like lead, too.

lulumama · 03/11/2006 16:47

i'll definitely be be there especially if you live somewhere more exotic than me!

YellowFeathers · 03/11/2006 16:50

its more my chest expat but yes it feels like someones stuck a lead weight in my stomach at times. Thats spot on. Do the odd here and there pains sound like it too?
