Really sore lumpy boob 10 days after stopping bfing.

Not sure if this is normal - it didn't happen with ds1 - but i stopped bfing ds2 about 10 days ago, we gradually stopped till he was taking very little. For the first week my boob was fine (only bfed from one side for medical reasons) then yesterday it felt like there was a lump in it and now it feels like i need to bf it is big, hard and sore. DS2 tried but nothing came out so gave up very quickly .

I don't feel unwell in myself or have a temperature.

Any ideas?

Have you had blocked ducts before? Do you think it could be that? There are some general tips for engorgement during weaning here .

Thanks Red. No i haven't had blocked ducts before. I woke with a wet top this morning and it leaked a bit later on. I had a hot shower and fed DS2 a bit to take the edge off. It feels softer now but still tender.

What has me is why suddenly after 10 days? i thought i would get something like this within a couple of days at the most.

I will keep an eye on it tho. Cheers.
