Excess protein in 24hr collection urine test??

Has anyone got any experience of this?? My DH has been diagnosed with diabetes and has started medication for it, a routine urine test showed protein 'off the scale' so the 24 hr test was ordered. May not have got this right but DH said the GP said there was 'too much protein to be caused by the diabetes'. 24hr test come back today and the GP wants to see DH on Monday morning so it looks likely excess protein has shown in that too. DH is out of his head with worry and seems to think it is the end for him

I know it is linked with kidney damage, but wondered if anyone had any experience and how it was treated??

TIA

Hi, I had this while I was student. Excess protein levels picked up in a routine check when first registered and then went to see a consultant and did the 24hr test and had blood tests for kidney function. They couldn't find anything wrong with me and said I was just unusual! Seems to have gone away again now though, nothing odd has come up in all the tests i had while pg. Just wanted to give you a positive story - hope you get good news soon.
