3 week periods for 6 months

Hi,
I'm 20 and for the past 6 months have been having periods that last 2-3 weeks. My cycle is the same so I'm only off for 1-2 weeks. I came off of the pill 9 months ago.
I went to the doctors and had blood tests and a smear test and they couldn't find anything wrong. They told me to wait and see how it goes. That was 2 months ago.
I was silly and looked online and have seen all sorts of scary things like endometriosis - apart from the massive pain of constantly being on my period, I'm now really scared I won't be able to have children in the future :(
Has anyone else had anything similar? Did it just resolve itself? Am I being silly and this is normal and I will be fine having kids?
Thanks!

No, this is not normal at all and I would not wait any longer for it to resolve itself (it likely will not).

I would return to your GP and insist on being referred to a gynae for further evaluation. Do not take no for an answer. This is not normal at all, being told to wait and see how it goes was not at all acceptable and you were fobbed off. Something is causing this to arise. You could end up becoming anaemic as well because of the blood loss.

Is the bleed constant or does it stop and start for the 2-3 weeks.

Such problems are well outside a GPs general remit anyway so you would be better off seeing a gynae. Apart from anything else this is likely to be having a real impact on your day to day life. Do not be fobbed off and seek proper answers.

I do feel like they just told me to either wait or go on the pill, and I'd rather know what's going on :(

I bleed constantly for 3 weeks, but the first and last week is really light, so I just need one pad or tampon. the middle week is normal period. but even so it massively does affect my day to day life :S

thank you, I'll be more persistent about getting referred to someone else
