Is this my period?

Sorry for the TMI but I'm quite worried. on Monday about a week before my period is due I noticed a very subtle bleeding coming from inside. Its very thin but was constantly happening all day, then the next day it go slightly heavier but no where near like my regular periods (which don't tend to be that heavy either, but this is.. different). I have seen a continuous tiny amount of bleeding up until now and I'm starting to panic! I feel slightly tender down there but I'm not sure if this is my mind playing tricks or if I have been 'searching' too much due to this.

Again sorry for the TMI and waffling! Bit of info: I'm 25 and currently in a relationship with a women (definitely not pregnant). Almost certain its not an STI (been checked recently), my periods are normally regular but its the very weak bleeding this time that's bothering me and the lack of other period symptoms. Could it be something else? I cant see the doctor until Monday as I'm away and I daren't google incase I get CANCER come up!

Any advice would be greatly received, I seriously hope I am being over dramatic and its nothing!

It sounds like spotting to me and quite normal.

It still happens to me for about 3 or 4 days before the flood gates open my period starts.

I'm ancient though!

Thanks for responding! You have made me feel a bit better is there any sinister possible explanations I should worry about? Medical stuff isn't my strong point especially when I'm anxious/worried.

Quick bump, it's still the same today

It's completely normal. I always have this - a very slight brownish colour for some days before my period and then I come on 'properly'

In the absence of other symptoms and having being advised that it's totally normal , maybe see your doctor re anxiety if you still feel worried

Just thought I'd let you know I've called a hospital helpline and its been figured out that it's a small cut/wound which was innocently self inflicted - I'll let you work that out! but it's fine and I'm so relieved plus a little embarrassed at my panic. Thanks to all who gave advice.
