Weird feeling after gallbladder removal

PinkParsnips · 09/04/2015 13:59

Just looking for experiences from others who've had gallbladder surgery and experienced any issues afterwards?

I had mine out 3 years ago with no complications and was lucky that I could eat normally afterwards with no ill effects like some people have.

However the last few months I keep getting an odd feeling in the area where it was, it's not painful or the same griping feeling like before, its more of an uncomfortable pressure type feeling very hard to explain...sort of like if your bra is too tight... It almost feels like something is poking me from the inside?! Has anyone had anything similar?

Its started happening every day now and I aren't eating badly, in fact I've lost a couple of stone recently.

You ought to see your gp. I had mine out several years ago and my hubby did too. Neither of us are familiar with that one. Its probably nothing but best to check.

Definitely get this checked out. It's possible to have late complications after gall bladder removal, or it may be unrelated, but don't ignore it.

Ok thank you both you're right I'll have to make an appointment.

Did you have keyhole surgery? if so it sounds like its in one of the places that they go in. Have you got a scar there?

PinkParsnips · 09/04/2015 19:29

Yes it was keyhole and there is one of the little scars nearby so its possible its scar tissue...I've had a baby since then so things will have been stretched!
Saying that I've just taken a ranitidine indigestion tablet and it seems to have gone away Blush so possibly bloating / indigestion related...

Well that's something I've been experiencing the same thing had my gullbladder removed back in 2007 and in the last few months or so I have been feeling these poky feelings like l'm being poked from the inside where my gullbladder was removed or the clips. That's what I think it is, It doesn't feel like scar tissue. I guess u are n alone. Going to the Dr. Wed....

Crazylady24 · 25/06/2023 20:05

For pinkparsnips, did u ever find out what it was?

PinkParsnips · 02/07/2023 19:41

@crazylady24 Hi, no I didn't tbh!
It went away after a while - although sometimes I get the odd twinge there, not so much the poking feeling any more (it's about 11 years since I had mine done though!)

Did you get to the GP? What did they say out of interest!?
