Inflammatory Bowel Condition

Has anyone had a positive stool sample for inflammatory bowel condition and it end up being IBS? I've just had a positive result and I'm not sure how concerned I should be? I've had stomach problems for years (IBS) and it's recently picked up and is very uncomfortable no matter what I eat! I've also got another autoimmune condition so it's not out of the ordinary? Dr tested as I've been getting quite bad stomach pain/gurgling/bloating etc etc...more than usual!

Icantstopeatinglol · 08/04/2015 22:33

Hi 40slady one of the other gps rang me tonight as my usual gp isn't back til tomorrow. She's going to get him to ring me first thing tomorrow as he's seen me recently and should be able to refer me on without seeing me.
I've got private healthcare so I'm using it this time as I can't go on much longer like this.
It's so frustrating.

Both crohns and UC are auto immune conditions and can go hand in hand with other auto immune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.

I hope you get some answers soon and get the right treatment.

Ibs is nothing like crohns :/

Yea bunbaker I have psoriatic arthritis and my stomachs been getting worse. I'm so bloated and look about 6 months pregnant! It's so hard finding things to wear cos nothing fits and I feel is uncomfortable. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat now, everything irritates my poor tummy! I feel like I'm going to explode at work....sorry tmi but it's getting really bad! I just want to know why??

wannabe I saw a gp about 3/4 months ago when it started flaring bad and all down my left side was sore and painful when she pressed and she just said yep IBS!? How could she just know that. I feel quite annoyed now I've been left suffering when possibly it's not that.

You definitely need this to be investigated.

40slady · 09/04/2015 07:42

Icantstop , i get pain on my left hand side under ribs like a stitch when i get a bad attack of my ibs , i literally cant walk have to lye down and i put heat on it and try to breath through the pain till it subsides ...i sometimes also get a left hand dull pain , not constant or every day ,other symptoms wind , bloating irratic BM Blush
have you seen a gastoologist at all yet ?

Icantstopeatinglol · 09/04/2015 08:02

Hi 40slady yea I've seen one a couple of times but they've never investigated very thoroughly. I do think things have progressed to be honest dos it seems to have changed recently. More urgency at times and the bloating is getting unreal! I got sent for a colonoscopy last year which came back fine but when my previous gp saw me he said they'd actually only done a sigmoidoscopy which only looks at part of the colon. My gp wasn't happy.
Hopefully they might do more thorough tests just so I know what's going on.

40slady · 09/04/2015 08:21

box I did try gluten and I didn't feel too bloated but now that's not even working. I'm in pain most of the time, I think I've become accustomed to it!
