Piles....sitz bath? Or other remedies?

I have been using Anusol HC for far longer than the recommended 7 days....supps and ointment both. Supps work for a few hours, ointment less effective, but NOTHING is going to deal with these horrible things except giving birth - and I have three weeks to go.
They're not hugely painful (possibly thanks to the Anusol) more itchy, especially as the day goes on, and uncomfortable. Googled remedies, and saw Sitz baths??? Are they just hot water, or do you put something soothing in them? Any tips (other than pushing them back - which I do every morning, lasts minutes) welcome too.

I can sympathise, I had them so bad in pregnancy that I couldn't sit down and had to kneel. Have you seen your Doctor ? They can prescribe something stronger, and my gp (male) put a suppository in there and then .
Never tried a sitz bath.

Neals Yard do a very effective cream.

Thanks, both of you - like the sound of a Neals Yard cream, and my local chemist (amazingly) stock their stuff so I'll have a look.

And no...not been to doctor this time...suppose I should

My sister swore by Sitz baths and witch hazel. Personally, I found Proctosedyl to be fantastic. I had so many after DD1 that I couldn't feel my stitches! This may be on prescription but it is worth getting. Mine shrunk back with this. HTH

Yes, proctosedyl is what I was given post-dd1....and they are good. And prescription only. Off to the docs, then...!

I re-googled Sitz baths (seems they're just mini-baths for bottoms) and sat in a warm shallow bath for ten minutes tonight. Feels much better - amazing. DH thinks I'm getting rebound irritation from endless Anusol, so I'm going to try 24 hours of not using any, just warm baths/compresses.

And I'll try witch hazel too - thanks!
