moisturiser for baby with excema.

It's under control but needs a barrier/moisturiser. Aqueous cream brings his skin up as does sudacrem and anything with lanolin in it.

that one might not be the exact one but I know she used the berts bees baby bee range for her ds when he was little and it was the only thing that helped. all natural products. it's not cheap but you can get the moisturiser/bath oil as well and that is very good also.

Aveeno also always gets good reviews on here.

(and I think you may be able to get Aveeno on prescription, but I might be wrong).

Doc prescribed Dermabase for my ds when he was a baby.

Oilatum is recommended by a very senior hospital dermatologist with a speciality in excema in babies. Aqueous cream is the work of the devil.It's shameful it is still prescribed. It makes excema worse!

The one that worked/works best for my dd is Doublebase. Oilatum actually makes her itch. I think it must depend on the baby and the eczema...

my dd was allergic to oilatum, but did very well with aqueous cream. I guess every child is different, and every case and cause of eczema is different.

I've heard loads of good stuff about aveeno but no personal experience.

we used a non greasy spray for DS called "Salcura gentle" (google it) and it worked a treat.

Tru Weleda's Calendula Baby Moisturising Cream, LLoyds etc ell it, in an orange box. It's fab. Bit thick but so gentle.

Also ahve you tried an oatmeal bath? Pop some oatmeal in a socl/muslin square and run the bath water over it before using it to wash ds. It is so calming. I use it when my skin is red and burnt looking. Really works.

I can't use oilatum, sudacrem, E45, Doublebase etc either. I now use Diprobase.

Definitely depends on the baby, and is a matter of trial and error.

For instance, my Lo is the opposite of Elibean's: doublebase made him itch, but oilatum is great!

Also aqueous cream used instead soap works well for us, but obviously not for bibliophile.

aveeno didn't work for us, made it worse. hv gave us prescription for 'hydromol' (you can google it) works great.

I've used Epaderm on 2 of my children. It's very thick like vaseline and you can also use it as soap in the bath. It's great when their skin is really bad. Once it gets a bit better and I don't need something so gunky, I use Cetraben, which is also good.

Ds is 5 mo, his excema originally was caused by him rubbing his face to get to sleep. I used the weleda baby face cream and I think he became sensitive to the lanolin, which then caused the dryness to get infected. Everything since then has made it worse except some mega-strong corticsteriod which I hated using but which does semm to have knocked it out. Just need now to make sure it doesn't flare up again! Ds also has excema-type skin all over but so far it hasn't flared up in the same way as his face. Thank you all so much.
