Hello,

Last night my 7 month old strained to poo, it took 30 mins (allot of screaming) and there was bright red blood in her poo. Today she has screamed again to poo and I have noticed that there is a tear by her bum.

I've googled this but can't find any advice/ what to do. Can anyone help? What should I do? She doesn't seem in pain now from it.

Thanks in advance!

Take her to the doctor.

Also what is her diet like? I would suggest completely cutting out things like bananas and bread and rice as they can cause constipation easily especially in babies. And try more liquids and stuff like nectarines and sweet potatoes to get things moving.

Sudocrem on the tear -it should heal up fairly quickly,as long as she is not still constipated. as pp said, plenty of water and try to sort out what caused it
Good Luck

If she has a fissure (tear) it will sting like HELL when she poos.
I would recommend getting some lactulose (doctors or just from boots) to make sure her poos are really soft and easy when she poos til it heals.
My DD1 had a fissure as a baby and we really battled with her holding it in because it hurt. She went on lactulose to keep it soft for a long time.

Defo lots of water and veggies to keep it soft too!
