High protein in blood

I went to the hospital a few months ago as I had had some pain in my right hand side rib and could sometimes feel a lump. The consultant took an xray and some bloods and asked me to come back in a couple of months.

My follow up appointment was last week and my x ray was clear and my symptoms have almost gone. The consultant says that the lump I am feeling seems to be my ribs. The consultant was unsure what to do next and said it was up to me if I wanted a CT scan as this would be my third lot of radiation to the area (had another xray last year on the same area) and would increase my risk of breast cancer and decrease fertility. I am hoping to ttc in the next year or so and I am 37 so things not really on my side.

He then went on to say the I had high protein in my blood. He might not be anything to worry about as it was a wide spread increase in protein rather than a particular protein. He has referred me to a haematologist and now I am in panic mode.

Anyone had high protein in their blood? And what on earth should I do about the CT scan. I have never heard of scan being dangerous before.
