Hi all,

I had a weird episode last night and wondered if anyone could shed some light. DH and I had a very rare meal out. Had a lovely meal, but eat more than I normally would. About 5 mins after dessert, I had a really bad pin in my stomach. Now I do sometimes have v bad diarrhoea after rich food ( sorry if TMI) but haven't had that for ages. Anyway, I just thought , bugger, its that again. But, the pain got REALLY bad, and , after a few trips to the loo , I was badly sick - now that has never happened before, I am rarely sick.

By this point, DH was drinking most of the wine and getting pitiful looks from the waiters. He was okay, but I feel it may have put a dampner on the night ! After I was ill, I instantly felt better, but today my tummy still feels a bit sore.

So, any ideas ? I had always thought I had a mild version of IBS ( undiagnosed obviously) but last night was odd. Do I need to be really careful of what I eat ? The only thing I think it could be down to was some , delicious, small peppers stuffed with soft cheeses. I don't normally eat much cheese and it was v rich.

Sorry for the dreary , epic post. If you are still with me and have any ideas, I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Sounds like food poisoning. It happened to me once after eating some breaded Camembert in a restaurant. It can happen very quickly if your body has identified something it doesn't like.

A food allergy? Did you have any other symptoms like a blocked nose or sore throat?

hiddenhome- do you think it could have come on so quickly ? Feel okay today, but never know I suppose.

Thecow- funnily enough, I did have a runny nose at the same time ! Again, fine today- is that linked to allergies then? Never had anything like it before.

It sounds like it could be. I had similar this week, was violently sick and diarrhoea and also runny nose and hoarse voice. Worth thinking about and see if you can narrow down what it was.

Yes, it can come on surprisingly quickly. It shows how clever the body is to recognise something like that and expel it immediately before it gets into the system.
