Would be grateful for the collective wisdom of MN.

9 week old baby so tired but not stupidly so. EBF - going well.

Had Nexplanon implant put in two weeks ago.

Baby and DH have recently had cold but not bad ones.

Last Sunday I had what I thought was cystitis. Pharmacist wouldn't give me anything and advised I try to flush it through. At the same time my 'period' seemed to be starting so had period style cramps and general v bad backache. So painful I was sick a couple of times.

Next few days I felt a bit under the weather but nothing terrible. Period went away again and cystitis abated. Back still a bit sore.

Thursday night was aching all over and couldn't sleep. When I did I woke up drenched in sweat.

Felt ok Friday morning but by 4 was freezing cold and shivering (proper jerky shaking). Dozed on sofa.

Friday night slept ok but v fuzzy head and headachy. Also clothes and bed absolutely wet through - 2 changes during night. Woke up this morning and back aching in one specific place - right rear between hip and rib cage.

Am now alternating between shivering cold and sweating buckets. Paracetamol and ibuprofen give temporary respite from the backache. Temp is fine.

Could I have a kidney infection? Is it just cumulative of lack of sleep? Could it be my hormones (is a bit similar to 5 days in). Or could it be the implant - have read various threads and none mention these as prominent symptoms.

It all sounds typical of a UTI/kidney infection to me. Have you seen your GP or had your urine tested?

Imnotaslimjim · 28/03/2015 14:12

It sounds like a UTI to me. Is there a walk in centre for to go to? A simple dipstick test will show if there is any bugs there. Sounds like the sooner its treated the better, you sound like you're very uncomfortable

Go to the GP.

Bohemond · 28/03/2015 14:45

Thanks ladies. Will see if there is a walk in centre near me. If not, will have to be GP on Monday. Is there anything I can take that's Otc for the time being?

The much maligned 111 service came through for me. Managed to get pm appt at local community hospital. Kidney infection diagnosed. Antibiotics administered. Thank you MN.
