Why are my boobs sore?

Both very tender, particularly the nipples. One more than the other. Kind of feels like when I was breastfeeding and engorged.
Not pregnant, could be due on (irregular periods due to implant) but have never had sore boobs with periods before.
Any ideas please? Been about a week.

I had this (about 4 years after I'd stopped breastfeeding there was what looked like milk, and I couldn't keep my hands off DH!) and was referred to a hormone specialist. Turned out it was stress/adrenaline affecting my hypothalamus and didn't need medication, but he suspected thyroid problems. Our DD is the happy consequence of that hormonal imbalance!

Joking aside, please please see your doctor about it, as I am certainly not one! Smile

Thanks jelly
There's nothing actually coming out and I definitely have no increased sex drive! Just the soreness. Might ring my GP if it's the same in a few days.
Congrats on your dd Flowers

No advice but I have the exact same thing. I am definitely not pregnant and I am on the pill so no periods but have never had this apart from when I had it bad when breastfeeding ds. Hurts to even brush against them. It has been going on for 2 days now.

I've got this, I'm 49 and always suffer just before a period, but I've had sore boobs for a month now.Hmm

Sorry I don't know what causes it.

MabelSideswipe · 28/03/2015 09:39

I get this just before and during my period but only since I hit my 40s. I have found taking evening primrose and b6 vitamin daily has helped.

I had this and it turned out to be mastitis
