I know, see medical help and don't rely on dr google. However I would like some opinions. It's long winded but I didn't want to drip feed.
About two weeks ago I was sitting in the car waiting for the kids to finish school and I experienced what I thought was a heart attack. It started off with a squeezing feeling in my chest, a god awful pain between my shoulder blades and pain radiating from my chest up into my shoulders and into my jaw where it felt like every tooth was aching. I felt nausea and while not breathless I had to breathe deeper to get enough air. This lasted about 5 minutes although the residual pain in my chest lasted well into the evening, a dull feeling like an overworked muscle three of four days after a big gym session.
Mentioned it to DH and he said it sounded like anxiety and due to a few ongoing health issues that I'm struggling to find answers to I'm conscious of sounding like a hypochondriac so I didn't do anything about it. 5 days later it was still bugging me so I went to the hospital and they performed an ECG which was normal and took a blood test to test for enzymes(?), 5 minutes later they came back and said blood test was normal it was only indigestion. I'd only had a cup of tea in the hours leading up to this episode.
I had another one today, almost identical although this one lasted longer and it's been 8 hours and my chest and between my shoulder blades is quite sore as is my left shoulder, in fact I feel like shit - flu like, from my ribs up, and I've been spaced out all afternoon.
I don't want to go back to the hospital only to have them look at me like I'm wasting their time and for them to tell me to go home and have a lie down like a good dear. I've had panic attacks before, I haven't had one for around 7 years and it was definitely different to this.
I mentioned it to DH and he said it sounded like the anxiety episodes he used to get.
Is a panic attack different from an anxiety attack? Is this all it is?
