Mirena Coil to blame or not?

I'm constantly bloated, but the main thing I'm asking is, since I had it fitted at the beginning of October, I've had CONSTANT UTI's, I have JUST finished a second dose of antibiotics and the same feeling is coming back.

I KNOW if i go and have it taken out that the consultant will probably refuse to do anything else for me, due to my size.

Surely 2 uti's in a month is no coincidence when I haven't had one for 5 years +

Hi. I have the coil and I hated it. Gave me mood swings and back pain and horrid periods. I don't think it made me bloated, but everyone reacts different. I wouldn't be too pleased with the amount of UTI's though.

I'm not sure about any other contraception. I got my coil removed and got sterilized. It was the best decision I made

I've been asking to be sterilised for the last 18months, but all I get is, we can do, this, this and this, you can take this and that medication etc but you have to have the coil etc.

I went in and demanded they sterilize me. I got the general things about having more kids, etc, but I was stubborn and they put me on the waiting list.

I was sure I didn't want more kids though - and the pill and condoms had already failed me (resulting in my two kids)

tbh not had UTI's since having mine (almost 5 years now)

I dont think the mirena would cause utis. Could you have some sort of lower vaginal infection that keeps tracking up.If you think where the coil is-in your uterus,is shouldnt really affect your urethra or bladder ? You shouldnt be getting utis though so maybe ask your gp to check out other options.Maybe you need a kidney scan or other investigations.Have you sent off a specimen and had your ladygarden swabbed for infection ? Whatever the cause drink gallons of fluid to help flush it out and hope you feel better.
