Beta Blockers for anxiety.

Hi,

Just started on beta Blockers, for anxiety. Atenolol, 25 mg. In 2nd week.

They're making me feel woolly/fuzzy headed, sort of on the point of having a headache, but not quite. And queasy. These symptoms go on for a good few hours after taking it.

They have helped somewhat with the anxiety though.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms when taking these meds?

Yes definitely re the symptoms plus tiredness and vivid dreams. It took me some months to appreciate the difference it made to my anxiety (quite a lot) and I now feel I have coped with the side effects, actually some months ago, without realising. I've been on proponal for just over a year. Still get weird dreams though.

Oh, that's reassuring.

Did your vision get a bit blurry as well?

Yes but I was also very anaemic and not sure what caused what.

Thanks for replying.

What time of day would you say it's best to take them? I think I might start taking them in the evening/bedtime because of the nausea and woolliness.

Currently I take the tablet in the morning. Wiping me out though.

Hopeful bump?

I take mine in the morning at about 10.30 because I also take blood pressure meds and my gp said morning was best. I used to take them at night so that's fine too, especially if you are taking them for anxiety rather than blood pressure.

PS I take beta blockers for anxiety not for blood pressure.

Ah bless you, thanks for the reply.
