Gaviscon- is this too much

Had possible gastritis start about 6 weeks ago. Tried rennies, controlling diet, elevated bed head etc but 3 or 4 weeks ago tried taking gaviscon on and off and worked out I have taken 23 doses over that time. Been back to the doctor and she suggested i take it religiously 4 times a day for 7 days. Is this too long to be taking Gaviscon. I am worried about long term side effects.

Thank you. Started with extreme upper stomach pain. Calmed down after a couple of days but left with heartburn and burping ever since.

I think I take that much a week! But go back to GP. You might need different (more effective) meds and / or some tests.

When I was pregnant I drank about a litre of Gaviscon Advance, straight from the bottle, every week.

If you are not experiencing any of the listed side effects in the paperwork you will be fine.
