Ears crackling for YEARS!

DH and I went on holiday years ago when we first got together, I think it was about 2008, and when we came back I had a crackle in my ears which I assumed was from water from swimming in the sea. When it didn't go after a few months I went to the GP who referred me to a consultant who rather patronisingly told me it was excess wax, which he removed and which made no difference whatsoever.

After that I just assumed I'd have to live with it and its got better and worse over the years but recently it's got really bad again and it's driving me mad! I'm gurning away all the time trying to relieve the pressure by moving my jaw, I must look a complete pillock! I'm pregnant and wonder if this has made it worse, although I can't remember if it was worse in my previous pregnancies.

Has anyone else had similar? Any advice or experiences?
