Can stress cause memory gaps?

I was mulling over yesterday as i had attended 2 job interviews on same day & was thinking which one might i get (really need work/feel stressed about money) and never again to do 2 interviews so close together as i felt very rushed. Then I realised I couldnt remember the walk from first place back to station at all. I usually have a memory like an elephant so its v weird i dont remember what happened only yesterday. I know its not vital to remember everything/its a 10min walk for gods sake, but its so odd for me not to remember something so recent & its freaked me out a bit as lately i cant remember names any more either. And again normally my memory is razor sharp. Is it just middle age? Or because i felt stressed maybe?
