Has anyone had any experience of taking this?

I've been taking it for a couple of weeks now for high blood pressure and I seem to have a permanently warm/red face...

Can be a side effect as it dilates the arteries. Can cause ankle swelling too. Are you on anything else as I would use it as step 2 of blood pressure treatment using something like lisinopril (called ACE inhibitor) first.

No I was taking labetolal and Nifedipine (prescribed when I was pregnant for pregnancy related hypertension) but I've been weaned off them and prescribed 10mg amlodipine. I think gp ruled out an ace inhibitor as I mentioned I might want to get pregnant later this year

Yes that's sensible. There are other drugs in the amlodipine category. May be worth seeing how you feel after a couple more weeks.

I've been on Amlodipine for about a year & although I was warned about swelling ankles I haven't had any side effects.
On the other hand Lisonopril completely floored me & I felt so ill so I think that there are always alternative medications which may work for you.

I feel fine and no swollen ankles it's just the face thing.

Nifedipine did that to me mumof4teens - it was vile
