Prescription prepayment certificate

I've just payed online for a 12m one, but there's no explanation of how it works. Is it an actual piece of paper, or is it digital? Do I have to show it every time I pick up medication? What if someone else picks up meds for me? Does it cover everything that I am prescribed?

You get a card, it's about the size of a credit card.

It will have your name on it, a number, valid from and expiry date. You will need to show it when you pick up your prescriptions, the chemist writes the number in a box on the back. Someone else can pick the script up but they will need the card. It will cover everything you are prescribed on the NHS.

Why don't they just put that on the website?

If you don't have the card with you or if the person who is collecting the prescription doesn't, they can tick a box that says they haven't seen the card and you can still have your medicine.

I have this. it's a small card - with the dates of validity on.

Generally my pharmacy don't ask to see it. I offer.

It will cover everything prescribed by NHS GP.
