Started on Monday afternoon from small insect bite and by Wednesday it had grown into a small lump so I went to the late night clinic and they gave me co-amoxiclav.

It didn't do anything so went back to my dr this morning who referred me to an eye clinic. The nurse there wanted to lance it and I would have been so happy to have had that but the Dr thought it would bleed too much and wanted to send me to london in case it bled too much!

In the end a consultant came in and game me another anti-biotic Ciproflacin and told me to try that.

I'm in real pain now though, the lump is huge and red and throbs.

I suppose I am asking if anyone has had anything like this themselves? Will the pills work or should I go to the london hospital for them to lance it?

It's very sort and all the anti-biotics have done is move the infection to one place and make it really hard. The dr said if I had not had the pills it would be soft and they could have lanced it. :(

Feeling fed up with it. It's so red and huge. I look like I've been punched.

Could you try a hot compress? A hot flannel?

abscesseye · 13/03/2015 21:31

I've tried that and magnesium sulphate. I really just want to stick a pin in it now :(

Sounds painful. Have you taken any painkillers?

abscesseye · 13/03/2015 21:39

Yes. I am rattling from the amount of pills I have taken this week Grin I just wish the nurse had been allowed to lance it.
