Chest infection

Not sure why I'm writing this but just wanted some advice.
I went to drs last Tuesday and was told I had a chest infection so was prescribed amoxicillin. A couple of days later I felt worse so went back Friday and dr said something about he could hear something in my left lung and prescribed co-amoxiclav for 7 days and sent me for an X-ray. Has the X-ray and they didn't seem too concerned and said the results would be with the dr in 7/10 days so assuming it's nothing urgent.
Anyway my issue now is that my back is aching and I feel like my lungs are aching! I'm on meds for arthritis that make me immunosuppressed so I know I have to be careful but I also know I can still get poorly like everyone else. I've had flu and pneumonia jabs as requested by my specialist nurse so I've tried to do all I can.
I just feel exhausted and I've got 3 days worth of antibiotics left. Is it possible they will kick in soon?

I am just getting over a chest infection - I had 7 days of amoxicillin as well. I took them in 5 days to try and shift it quicker (not recommending you do this though...) and the Dr did stress that they may not work and if that was the case I would have to change to something else.

did you finish the course of amoxicillin or swap to the co-amoxiclav halfway through. If the amoxicillin wasn't working, you will need to give the co-amoxiclav time to work.

My back and neck still hurt from all the bloody coughing and it really wiped me out and I don't have any other issues to deal with so you have my sympathies.

Hi hellospring, no I didn't finish the amoxicillin cos the dr told me to stop and go straight on to the co-amoxiclav. I don't feel ill I just feel exhausted! I'm off work and that's making me feel bad cos I just want to get back to normal and I hate phoning in sick.
I feel ok then I try to do something and I feel exhausted and lightheaded.
Hopefully it will ease over the next few days.

You should check with your arthritis specialist nurse about continuing with your immunosuppression meds.

Pleuritic irritation is common with chest infection. Can take few weeks to settle. Ibuprofen can help.

Thanks hello Yea I checked with them last week and I can't take my meds til I've been feeling better for more than 5 days. Gutted but know it's for the best.
I take a strong anti inflammatory everyday anyway so can't take ibuprofen but I'm sure that it's helping anyway.
I just get a but worried when I feel breathless and faint with it. I've had costochondritis before with my arthritis so the pain I can deal with, it's the worry of my lungs being damaged I'm concerned about. Hopefully the dr can reassure me today as I'll need a sick note today anyway so will need to speak to him.
