My DP, 23 has woken up with pain in his back on the side. He's Moaning and groaning, he does seem in a lot of pain.

He is moving around walking but is just in pain. Should he go to a&e? My first thought is trapped wind though. Tia

Where abouts in his side? Could be kidneys? How's his pee? (am not a doc btw way but kidney infections hurt like hell).

FirstNames · 08/03/2015 07:40

It's his left side. Near the bottom of his back, he has been sick from the pain now. His pee is fine no colour/smell

Don't go to a&e.
Ring 111 they could get him an appointment or give you good advice

jimijack · 08/03/2015 07:47

Oh & give him paracetamol and ibuprofen

larrygrylls · 08/03/2015 07:52

Of course go to A&E. If an adult is in that much pain, it needs medical attention, not being triaged by a computer programme.

jimijack · 08/03/2015 07:54

111 can make an appointment with a Dr for him.
But if you would rather go to a&e and sit for 5 hours waiting to be seen, then go for it.

gingeroots · 08/03/2015 08:27

That's really helpful to know jimijack .

NerrSnerr · 08/03/2015 08:36

Call 111, they will get him in to see the out of hours doctor.

jimijack · 08/03/2015 08:38

Really, despite the bad press, 111 offer great service.
Give them a go x

FirstNames · 08/03/2015 09:23

Thanks everyone. will give 111 a call as he's refused a&e anyway. Will keep this updated

Thanks very much jimijack too, I did phone 111 which gave him appointment with out of hours doc. We would have been waiting much longer at a&e!
