Stubbed toe broken or just bruised

Stubbed toes off the end of banister whilst coming out of the bathroom more my 2nd last toe
I'm used to stubbing my toes small toe usually on that one but this is sore looks red and swollen cant feel anything and can walk etc
How can you tell if it's broken and what do they do for broken toes ?

I did that year's ago, coming out of the bathroom. It was my little toe and was at right angles, I tried to ignore the pain but had to go to hospital. They numbed the area then pushed my toe back into place tgen just taped it next to my other toe to keep it in place. How bad is the pain? :/

It's sore on a scale from 1 to 10 I'd say a 3/4 pain seems to be easing a bit keep checking it
I've done this kind of thing before when I was a kid so not the first time

I've broken little toes on more than one occasion. I find taping together the little toe to the one next to it is necessary while it heals. And painkillers for the first few days.

I've done this before many years ago think I just rested it

My daughter has broken toes a few times, A&E told us they would x-ray as she is a child, but treatment is the same for broken or badly bruised toes.....strapping! My daughter finds raising her foot on a cushion in bed helps too!

Toe doesn't look swollen red or bruised but still have some pain now and again nothing bad say 2-3 on a scale to 10 doesn't hurt either when I touch it pain is more at the tip mostly have a doctors appointment next week
