Would you take DS back to the GP over this?

DS is 8, he has a problem with his eyes, it started just before Christmas and presents itself intermittently (mainly while watching tv or in bright lights) in the form of sore, red, puffy eyes (looks like he's been crying for a while but hasn't) he says they feel sore and very hot and they're hard to keep open but hurt to close.

It started around the time the decs came down from the loft and the room was all moved around so I thought it might be a dust allergy or similar.

It hasn't gone away at all, if anything when it flares up 4-5 times a week it's worse than before.

I've taken him to the optician who says there isn't anything to report physically but he's obviously very light sensitive, more so than is normal.

I took him to the Gap 3 weeks ago, she said there isn't anything she can think of that would cause it but to try an over the counter anti hystsmine and she also gave us mild eye drops for allergies but said it was a stab in the dark. Confused

Nothing has changed, it's worse rather than better and today he's sat sobbing, grinding his fists into his eyes because they're so hot and sore.
I'm thinking of taking him back tomorrow but wonder if there is a lot of point since she was so unsure what to suggest last time.

I would take him back. (I'm a GP) sometimes it takes a while to get to the bottom of things. Not sure I could put my finger on it exactly but do go back and even ask for a referral to an eye clinic. Is it the whites of the eyes that are red or the lids around the eyes?

I'd take him back! He sounds miserable. (I'm not a hcp, just a mum but have had probs with my eyes in the past).

Lids around the eyes, he says the whole area from his cheek bones up to the top of the eye sockets and around the temples are hurting, I thought it might be sinus related because he has history of bad halitosis and he's a really mucussy boy (nose and throat) always has been.

He's not using any different shampoo or hand wash (and rubbing his eyes)? No new pets? These are the things that go for my eyes. Can you think of anything in the house that has changed since Christmas, carpets cleaned ect?

I would go back to the GP. He sounds miserable.
