Am I deficient in something, got spots, mouth ulcers and bad hair?

In so many ways I am healthier now than I ever was but am plagued by quite bad spots on my neck and jawline, I have constant mouth ulcers and my hair has become really fizzy and dry. I joined weight watchers at the beginning of the year and have really improved the way I eat, lots of fresh fruit and veg, very little crap and drink lots of water and I am no longer resistant to exercise. I just don't get it, could I be lacking something in my diet or is it just being a busy mum to two toddlers?

think those jawline ones are largely hormonal (so I've been told) - are you on the pill or other hormonal contraception?

(my skin is now worse than it ever was when I was a teenager but I definitely have hormone problems and I'm seeing a gynae for it)

Apparently many many women of childbearing age are deficient in Iron - you could ask for a blood test to see if you are anaemic?

Lilliput · 26/10/2006 10:08

I took the pill for years and now have a coil fitted but not the mirena hormone coil. Do you think it might be worth going to the doctor for a blood test, I would feel like it was a waste of an appointment because I am not ill?

I guess I'll ask the doctor then!

lilli, go for a blood test and do not worry - ok so you're not 'ILL' but you have a valid concern and some real issues....I went along to ask for a blood test for possibly anaemia as was like you with the spots, ulcers, dry hair etc (but I also had numerous viruses one on top of another, weight gain, and was very tired) and I was really glad I went as was diagnosed with underactive thyroid, given the tablets and I am a different person!

I don't mean I think you have the same as me, just that it's worth going along with your list of symptoms - any good GP will be happy to give you a blood test appt.
