Hair loss

I am 45. 3 children. Latest 18 months and I'm still feeding at night. My hair is definitely thinning out. No bald patches, just generally. Is this post pregnancy normal? I have been pregnant or breastfeeding for about 9 years (lots of miscarriages). Or is it just my age? Help!

Mrsmootoo, I'm not sure. I have 5, eldest is 8, youngest just 10 months, no.6 is due inMarch and I've had lots of mc in between.
My hair has been falling out alot recently. I don't know if it's hormonal or what. I think alot of it is stress related. I have started taking "maca" powder again. It's great for just balancing and strengthening the system. I have also been massaging my scalp too. I've already noticed a reduction in hair loss.
Not much help, you could try and reduce stress, make sure your diet is good and take supplements like maca.

Not sure, but maybe a bit of both? Breast feeding does suppress oestrogen, and lessened oestrogen levels is part of what makes hair thin in menopause. So would bet a part of it is hormonal, and you may well see it thicken again when you wean.

That said..its also really normal for hair to thin in ones forties...mine has, not horribly, but some. Definitely wouldn't hurt to take supplements etc, of course, though don't know much about those!

That's reassuring! But kittythescarygoblin what's maca powder - am I really ignorant? Thanks!
