Recovery from GA

I had to have an abscess removed surgically under GA on Thursday. I still feel bloomin awful and exhausted; and I need to go back to work tomorrow.
I really thought I'd be feeling better by now:-(

Are you able to take some more time off work, Missy?

Your body is recovering from:

  • original illness (abscess)
  • general anaesthetic
  • surgery
  • effect of painkillers
so it's no wonder you're still exhausted!

I hope you feel better very soon.

I had 8 weeks off before Christmas for hernia surgery (the abscess was in the surgery wound), and like a typical teacher I'm really feeling the guilt at taking any more time off. I have lots of exam classes, so don't want to let them down..but I am going to be sensible! I won't be doing 'outstanding' teaching, I'll be doing practical, 5 days post surgery teaching!

Okay, but you really must be sensible. If you decide it's too much, and you need a few more days rest, then they'll just have to cope without you.

I know, and I will be sensible! I only work pt, so if I can get through Monday, I then have tues/weds off
