My 18wk old rolled onto his tummy in his cot last night, and he is pretty good at holding his head up on his front, but gets tired quickly. I'm a bit worried about him suffocating on his mattress if he does it again and has trouble keeping his face off it. Am i worrying over nothing?

Both mine did this at about this age.

My hv advised turning them back if we noticed but not to wake ourselves in the night to check! It improves v quickly - perhaps lots of tummy time play in the daytime will help set your mind at rest cos this will strengthen his head/neck.

Is the bedroom warm - if it s a bit on the cool side there is less chance he'll overheat anyway which is (I think) one of main factors in cot death.

It's quite a warm room, so we don't overdress him and he just has a fleecy blanket. Perhaps i'll try upping his tummy time in the day so gets more practise.
