Virus, PMS or peri menopause symptoms?

I have looked all over mumsnet for this but no success.
Has anyone had this before, last night I woke up in the middle of the night feeling all "buzzy", I don't know how else to describe it, maybe shaky but on the inside (ie not visibly shaking), ears ringing heart beating fast, then when I got up my knees felt like cotton wool even though I could still walk normally.
I had some water and sat up in bed trying to breathe very deeply, and eventually it went away.
It really scared me I thought I was having a heart attack.
I eventually fell asleep again and when DS woke me up I was all sweaty especially around the chest area.
Today I've got a cold and a headache.

How old are you? I'm 47 and think I have had some of those symtoms and attributed it to being peri menopausal. I have had the fast heartbeat and the sweaty chest thing.

The reason I mentioned peri menopause in the title is because I have super regular period in the last 3 years and this month I'm a week late and still no sign of it.

Any chance you could be pregnant?

Mediaaddict · 25/02/2015 09:53

Sorry, I should have said in the beginning, no, defo not pregnant, I did 2 tests to make sure because we use contraceptives (condoms) and they both came back negative so it's definitely not that.
It's quite annoying when your period isn't there and you don't know why.
It's definitely nothing to do with Thyroid imbalance either as I have had recent blood tests for that.

Are you an anxious person? It sounds more like a panic attack.

Mediaaddict · 25/02/2015 21:49

Hi Pink, funnily enough I thought about that, yes I am quite anxious, and suffered from quite badly from anxiety a few years ago but it appears I'm over it now.
I thought of the panic attack scenario but because I have never had one I wasn't sure, isn't it a bit unlikely to be woken up by a panic attack?
I don't feel particularly anxious at the moment. At least I'm not aware of it if I am.
My period finally came today so maybe it was hormonal (as it happened two nights ago), especially with the sweating around the chest area.
But the fact that it got better as soon as I started breathing deeply raised my awareness to the panic attack.
Also I had had 3 strong coffees that day which is unusual for me. Maybe that had an effect?
