Asthma - go to GP?

I have been really short of breath/struggling to breathe 2-3 times a day and have been using my blue puffer to relieve it. My GP only gives out appointments to "emergencies" on the day or you have to wait c.2-3 weeks for one. Is it worth me ringing up tomorrow to try and get an appointment or should I just wait, I don't know what they could do in the meantime anyway as my asthma is clearly not controlled.

Do you have a preventer too? You may need it upping for this coldy/chesty season although it will take a while to kick in.
You might need oral steroids to help you, or some other treatment, so yes, I would get on the phone tomorrow, stress your difficulty breathing several times a day and get an emergency appt.

Forgot to say - the surgery might have an asthma nurse who can see you instead of the GP. Ours is excellent at fitting in emergency appts when necessary.
