is this right? period & bf??

Ds is 2yrs 2 months.
I haven't had a period for about 3.7 years. (Woohoo)
Yesterday I came on, first time, I am still bf ds2,
It's very painful, quite heavy, but it's the pain that's getting me.
Have I just forgotten that periods ARE bloody painful, is this right do you think??

Periods can be /will be different once you've had a baby. So from your post, I didn't quite understand.....do you have two children or one? Are you breastfeeding DS 2 yrs, 2 months?

Periods can come back heavier or lighter and with more or less cramping but I've read about lots of women (myself included) who have heavier periods following child birth.

Mine came back when DS was 2 months old. The pain was one of my biggest challenges to BF as I couldn't take the painkillers I used to. It's been normal for me

I had periods while bf and was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid.

Mine were a lot more painful and a lot heavier for the first year when they came back -I had been bf for 15 months. In hindsight I think mine were related to thyroid, too. They gave settled down now I have completely stopped bf.

I have 2 kids a 12 year old and a 2 year old who I am still breast feeding.
I had a miscarriage prior to ds 2, and didn't have a period so it's been about 3 years since I had a period.
This is the first, I presume that the bf switched off hormones to stimulate ovulation all this time.

I had forgotten how nasty af was/is.

Oh dear God......just to add I am NOT still bf my 12 year old!!!!!!!!!! Just my 2 year old..just read previous post back, sounds like I am bf both kids!
