Ok so I have no previous history of back problems. Moved about a month ago so did some heavy lifting then. Had a week of what I thought was symptoms of carpal tunnel in morning had these symptoms before. Had some strange sensation for a day or two in Elbow. Anyway go to bed Monday wake up Tuesday feeling really stiff with sharp pain in right shoulder and down right arm when moved. Went to bed Tuesday night woke up in night literally in agony. Couldn't move worse than childbirth. Ended up goin by ambulance to accident an emergency. They were great. Doc there though it rotary cuff. A friend who is a physiof think neck disc as pain completely down right arm and index an ring finger numb. Friend going to see me but wants me to see nhs physio this week first. Has anyone else had similar currently right arm in sling ok of propped on sofa very painful when moving around neck hurts if I try to put head back and shooting pains completely down arm and aching. Thanks in advance

I tore my rotator cuff - also during a house move. Three months and some physio and it's just about starting to move in some directions without pain. I've not had it in a sling at all fwiw or knowing my luck it would freeze up. The pain is quite different from the sort you describe though and is more localised to the shoulder, with a bit spreading to my upper arm. It doesn't affect neck movement at all, making me think that your physio friend is perhaps nearer the mark. Hope you get it sorted quickly, good luck.

Sounds exactly like a cervical disc issue to me.

thank you I think this is my gut response too. It's just my arm that's painful now. Hope it doesn't take long to fix a new house loads to do just lookING at it all so frustrating.

I've had the same this week from lifting weights last week. It's pure agony, can't sleep and can't drive as I can't turn my head to look for traffic. I also can't bend my chin to my chest and had pain and numbness down entir arm.

However it is easing and now a week later is nowhere near as bad so it will improve. Other friends who've had it say it's up to 3 weeks before completely better.
