Pls reassure me. I am having a weird reaction to tonic water. I know how strange that sounds. I feel so strange. Really scary. Kids upstairs asleep but otherwise alone. Waiting for 111 call back. :(

In what what do you feel strange?

How much did you drink and when?

SpawningSalmon · 11/02/2015 22:54

Feel like I am on drugs. Weird in the head, shivery, anxious. Horrible. Only drank a glass.

Could be the quinnine. Call 999 if you feel any worse, do you have a friend who would come and sit with you?

SpawningSalmon · 11/02/2015 22:58

My husband is coming home from work but could be an hour. No friends locally.

Any ideas for a cure? Worried my baby will wake up soon.

Hmmm sounds suspiciously like an anxiety attack. Try to focus on taking deep long breaths and see if that helps?

SirVixofVixHall · 11/02/2015 23:00

Quinine, sorry, typing too fast. Any word from 111?

SpawningSalmon · 11/02/2015 23:02

Am familiar with anxiety. It is definitely a reaction to something. No call back yet. I think it might be easing.

It does sound like a panic attack, but I also get panicky feelings with reactions so you should get checked if you continue to feel strange.

Yes I'd suggest panic attack too - afaik most people would need to drink an enormous amount of tonic water to suffer any quinine side effects. That said, a small amount of people are allergic - is your breathing ok? Any rash? Could you take an antihistamine?
