Has anyone had a myomectomy?

I have an appointment with a surgeon in a couple of weeks. I'm bloated most of the time at the moment as the fibroids are 8cm, 6cm and 5cm but are pushing my intestines up as they are at the top. Will having them removed help? How long did it take you to recover?

Thank you Smile

I had a myomectomy, together with treatment for endometriosis and adenomyosis at the same time. I was on the operating table for 5 hours and I won't lie to you, recovery took a long time. I was off work for 3 months. (And I'm not work shy, I was desperate to get back to normal).

I never got a lot of pain before the op....it was mainly done for fertility reasons and I was lucky enough to go on and have a baby.

Good luck!

Hi how did the appointment go? I had a multiple open myomectomy almost 5 weeks ago for large fibroids of similar size to you. I also had a large endometrioma removed and lots of endometriosis. I spent 4 days in hospital and had to have a blood transfusion. Recovery has not been too bad and I'm probably going to have to have the full 3 months off work. Scar is neat. Worse things are coughing, laughing and sneezing! any questions just ask!
