Frequent trapped wind

I mean doubled-over, stomach crunching, god-awful trapped wind. I have IBS and am definitely having a flare up. The worst thing is the trapped wind. It's been coming and going for days now. Eventually I'll find a position to get rid of it. Peppermint capsules do shit all. Buscopan helps a bit. But the trapped wind is basically felt from too of my chest to the pit of my stomach. I'm very petite but at it's worst I look ready to go into labour. Anything else to try? Hmm

Are you certain its trapped wind? I thought I suffered with trapped wind but after one particularly bad episode I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with gallstones. Am not waiting for the removal of my gallbladder.

Have you been tested for coeliac disease?

I get this sometimes (agree very painful) and if I lie down for even just 10 minutes it shifts, the pain is relieved and it ... ummm ... comes out (make sure you are alone!)

Having lukewarm water does help sometimes

I suffer from painful trapped wind on the first couple of nights of my night shifts. I put it down to irregular eating and the physical upheaval of working nights. I recently started having fennel tea after my evening meal by crushing seeds in a pestle and mortar and steeping in boiling water for a couple of mins. It's really worked for me!

There is a gas relieving yoga position. It works for me!

Been referred for a ultrasound

Cutting wheat helped mine. Ask about coeliac testing too. It's a simple blood test.
