Migraines

Hi all. Im 33 years old and until last week I had never had a migraine. Im 34 weeks pregnant with my second and have had 2 migraines in a week. I have read all about preeclampsia but I dont have any othet symptoms (that I can tell) and I didnt have it with my first. I know hormones can affect headaches but I didnt have it with my first (now 2 and a half). Has anyone else experienced this? I think Im gonna ring the midwife to be on the safe side......

I've only heard of migraine sufferers NOT having them when pregnant so yes ask a professional!

Thanks. I went and had blood pressure and urine checked and everything was fine so who knows what has caused it. I hope it stops just as fast though!

I have lots of migraines and I had pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy. The two can be quite similar in the way they feel, so keep getting checked for pre-ec if you have more.

i have severe migraines but none whilst pregnant(4 times)

Another who has migraines at least monthly (hormonal) but none while pregnant.

It could though be connected to hormones I would guess.

I'm a chronic migrainer (more than 15 a month) and the only time I get respite is in pregnancy.

Please seek medical advice

Another with severe migraines which went away when pregnant.

I was fortunate as none of the big hitter drugs are safe in pregnancy.

No idea what might be causing them, but if you need something for the pain, you could ask about codeine as opiates are very safe.
