Cyst on ovary

Hi, my good friend has just been in hospital- I've got her son staying with us tonight to give her mum a break as my friend is a single parent. She's coming home but they've discovered a 15cm cyst on one of her ovaries. That's bad right? That's a proper big one? Am I right to be worried? She's not told me yet what the plan is but I presume they will remove it.

My cousin had similar. It was a big emergency op but she made a full recovery and has since got pregnant.

Depending on what type of cyst it is I had an 18cm endometrioma removed by lap a couple of years ago,minor op with quick recovery. Well done for being a good friend, I hope she is on the mend

Thanks for your responses. It's hard to know what to do to help. I'm pleased to hear you recovered well from your op and to hear that people have gone on the conceive again. I guess I don't know much about this subject- and perhaps I should! 15 cm seemed so big to me! They've said she's to go back I six weeks unless the pain is bad or she bleeds! But surely the pain was bad enough to send her into hospital in the first place? I don't understand why they don't just take it out??!!
