9 YO feet hurting

For the past few months DS has been complaining that his feet hurt/ache. I have kind of put this down to growing pains and the fact he is sporty, but on recollection I think i something similar (high arches). If this continues does anyone have any advice on who to contact for further investigation? Poor thing is almost in tears sometimes.

Contact GP who can refer him to a foot specialist. He may need arch supports. or it may be something like Severs ( which is not uncommon in children that age). Its to do with growth of tendons and foot growth plate not happening in exact synchronisation ( think). Apparently affects sporty kids particularly.
One of mine developed it at around 9, has almost grown out of it at 14. Gel heel inserts helped, but get it checked.

Thanks Delphi, it's always worse at night (guess not helped by being on his feet all day). I will speak to the GP

Severs is generally fine at night (I had it very badly and spent 2 years in and out of plaster with it), it's weight bearing that is the problem and there's generally a very pronounced limp and worse in one foot than the other. Feels like a piece of glass in your heel.
