Are they really of any value ? Had one today while in there anyway , already knowing that I have significant loss on one side, yet that only appeared in orange area of graph and was passed off as normal . Hmm What's with all the pressure to try contacts and varifocals too.

did you have an actual hearing test or just use the self testing machine ? My DS had a hearing test with Specsavers last year when he needed new hearing aids and we have been very happy with the service they provide . I've just tried varifocals for the first time and have taken them back after 10 days to have them changed back to normal lenses as I didn't get on with them . They have refunded me the difference in cost so i have been able to test them out at no cost to myself - can't complain at all seems more than generous to me .

It was their free screening test. Wasn't impressed that my range was apparently "normal" and when I pointed it out the assistant brushed it off . Just felt it wasn't as great a diagnostic tool as customers might be led to believe. Didn't convince me to use them for more thorough tests.

Perhaps it differs from store to store as certainly the test my DS had was as detailed and accurate as any that he has had with the NHS audiologist over the years .

I had one with them and they said my hearing was fine. So how come I struggle and the family are fed up with me asking them to repeat stuff then?

I wasn’t impressed either. I have known hearing loss and came out as normal on the free screening test at specsavers.
