Spent a 'pleasant' afternoon at the hospital with ds again...

Because of his chest infection. To be fair though they are very kind and lovely at the paediatric assessment unit. And at least they didn't take any blood today! Just a chest x-ray, yet another one.
It looks like they don't really know what's going on, but they are reassured by the fact that ds is still in good spirits and gaining weight well.
They are trying him now with steroids (orally) for three days and another course of AB's. We'll see how it goes...

aw sorry to hear this, how old is he. steroids are a bit heavy for a young one, presume its an ongoing problem for the poor boy.poor you also, hope he recovers well

emkana · 18/10/2006 20:26

He's 17 weeks now.
He already had steroids intravenously (sp?) when he was less than two months old though.
It is an ongoing problem for him, I'm afraid.

I'm sorry em. (Also sorry that I haven't sent that email yet - will do v soon )

I know it's horrible, but try not to worry toooo much about the number of X-rays - I was permanently having them as a baby/young child due to my hip probs, and they don't seem to have done any damage (and the amount of radiation was prob higher in those days).

He's going to see a lung specialist soon, probably in December.
They don't really know what causes all these chest problems, but it might be related to the genetic condition he might have. Still a lot of uncertainty there, and we have been told that we have to wait until a final diagnosis can be made.
