Chest pains when stressed?

If you suffer from these can you come and talk to me?

The GP is convinced it's stress/ anxiety related and I have beta blockers. And it does flare up when I'm busy with a lot on. Or stressed.

What helps you? Any advice? I'm only 36 and I'm finding it all a bit debilitating tbh.

DH experiences this when stressed so I'm interested to hear what others say.

Yes, feels like my sternum is burning, think it is whatever holds sternum to ribs gets sore and irritated. I only get it during extreme prolonged pressure and stress but a holiday is the only thing that tends to sort it out! (Or I get it when I haven't taken any annual leave for ages?). For me it would hurt to twist left and right when I get it because the ligaments or whatever stretch.

Well I'm a lone parent and ExH doesn't have them overnight. I never get a break and work is busy right now.

Can't remember when I last had a holiday but I sure need one!

So what does helps apart from a holiday?

I have been suffering from this recently, starts in left hand side above boob and then travels to the middle, the pain is incredible and I also get palpitations at the same time. Went to gp as convinced I was having heart attack, was sent to a&e and had a heart trace done which was absolutely fine even though the pain was there at the time. Was told if pain gets worse when you breath in it is not a heart attack. Told it could be viral as I have recently had tonsilitis, but 5 weeks on it is still there. I do suffer from acid and have taken esomeprazole for 8 years, a high dose 40mg but since December has been reducing to 20mg, again when you press in the sternum which GP did the pain is incredible, wondered if my bra was too tight as I am rather top heavy. Told not too worry, I am not particularly stresssed, just a bit concerned about chest pains being ignored. Sorry not much help but just to say me too.

Hi

I'm 36 and have had similar on and off for a few years - sharp pain in centre (but just slightly to my left) of chest. Had for about 4 hours last friday night - it woke me up. This was the worst i've had it - has only lasted 15 mins or so previously. Would have called ambulance had hospital not been on black alert. Pain had gone once OOH GP rang me back.

Anyway, saw my GP yesterday, I'm going to have an ECG and a 24 hr ECG done (had both 3 yrs ago, ok apart from faster heart rate than expected). Dr said its not inflammation around the ribs as it didn't hurt when she pressed on it (that can be treated with steroid injections by the way). \

My symptoms have included, with the pain, clamminess, tightening around chest (like a belt being tightened) and it hurt more to breathe too much or to lie down. Interesting to read above that someone was told its not a heart attack if it hurts more to breathe in - I'm going to ask about that when i have my tests.

Its v frightening, you all have my sympathies.
